If you have multiple devices trying to sync the same picture, iCloud will recognize it as a duplicate. But if you have copies saved on your iPhone, then iCloud will upload both versions of the photo. Duplicates happen to everyone. Especially if you're using your iPhone as your primary camera.

Exact same thing here. iPhone seems to be ok. But when the sync happens with he iPad app all images we duplicated with a change in resulting for the duplicated version which is why Google photos does not erase the duplicate as they are no longer the same. However I think the issue is definitely with the Goole Photos app.

Open iTunes on your computer and connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Click on the device icon in iTunes. Click Photos. Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections that you want to stop syncing. Click Apply. Stop syncing all photos. Open iTunes on your computer and connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Their solution at the Apple Store was to remove everything on my iPad then they would put manufacturer's software back in. They referred to it as rebuild it. I would have to put my apps, photos, music, notes and everything back in manually. No one there had any other solution(s). That was back in May, 2012.

Go into settings>camera and make sure “keep normal photo” is turned off and from now on when you take pictures, only the HDR photo will be saved to the photos app. As far as the photos that are already duplicated on your phone, you may still have to manually delete them. Remember to turn “view full HDR” back on

Photos synced through iTunes can not be deleted on the iPad. Check the folders you chose to sync in iTunes and see if you have duplicates there. Also Check your iTunes Photos sync settings (iPad must be plugged in to see these). If the synced albums are still duplicated, you can try turning Photo syncing off in iTunes and then syncing to remove them.

Part 3: Delete All Photos after Scanning with iTunes. After scanning iPhone with iTunes, some people may find out there are duplicate photos. To remove all duplicate photos after scanning, just do the following: Step 1: Open iTunes and connect your device with computer. Step 2: Under photos, choose "Sync Photos" and then select "Copy photo from Photos".

I don't know how or why, but all my photos appear in duplicate on my phone all of a sudden. I don't mean the same photo appearing in two different albums, I mean every photo is side by side with a duplicate. Instead of 8,500 photos I have 17,000. It could be iOS5, iOS6, Aperture 3.4, or who knows what. I tried to address it by simply turning off syncing photos and turning it back on, but that didn't work. All photos were still on my phone. In duplicate.

Step 1. Download the Shortcuts app on your iPhone if you haven’t. Then get this Delete Duplicated Photos shortcut. You can open the link in Safari to download it on your iOS device. Step 2. Open the shortcuts app and simply run this shortcut. Step 3.This shortcut will give you a preview of all the duplicated photos detected.

Why are duplicates appearing in my iPhone/iPad or Android's native Contacts app? If you have recently added an additional Google/iCloud/Exchange accounts to your Contacts+ address book, and you are suddenly seeing duplicates in your native Contacts app (the address book built into your smartphone), this is likely because you have multiple sources contributing to your Contacts app.

This Duplicate photo feature is only available in modern versions of iOS, so if your iPhone or iPad is running some ancient system software or iOS version you will not find the Duplicate feature available without updating to a newer version.
