The T-Mount system uses T-Threads of metric dimensions (42mm and 48mm diameter and a pitch of 0.75mm) to mate cameras to lenses or telescopes. The T-Ring is the object which fits into your brand name camera on one side and has female T-Threads on the other side. T-Rings are made and sold to fit specific camera bodies; the two Celestron T-Rings available are the T-Ring for Canon and the T-Ring for Nikon.

Cameras generally do not have T mounts. Instead a T adapter or T2 adapter are used between the camera and the lens. On the rear side a T/T2 adapter has a mount appropriate to the brand and model of camera it will attach to. On the front of the T/T2 adapter is a female threaded connector matching the T thread of the lens. The T mount is a mechanical-only mount, meaning it does nothing beyond physically connect the lens to the camera. It does not transfer electrical signals, autofocus ...

But that doesn't mean the types of canon lens mounts are limited to just the EOS mount because some Canon cameras are fitted with an EF mount, much like the popular Canon 5D. We’ve placed the EF mount in the Cine lens category because there are cinema style cameras that use the EF mount, but they are also found in DSLR and mirrorless photography cameras as well.
