Generally I need to replace camera bodies every 3-5 years, depending on how beat up my main gear has become and the level of techno-lust for the latest goodie. Good glass lasts a LOT longer. I've got a 300 f/2.8 (non-IS) that is 18 years old and still sharp as a tack.
